So here it is, the first part of my first tutorial! All about character design with a MALE humanoid body. A female edition will be coming out at some point.

This is all about the body, for faces, see part 2.

Kuja would beg to differ with you that male hips aren't curvy, lol XD

I don't know who Kuja is, but I can't necessarily disagree, haha. Men hips can be curvy it's just rare, and more often than not when they are curvy it means said male is not in the best shape.

so sorry for th elate reply, I've had no internet from moving!

Thank you so much c:

Of course there are chubby men! I decided to include some tips on chubbyness on the women's side because a lot of people seem to struggle with the differences between chub and pregnancy. Really there are SO many different things to cover on characters it was hard to fit it all for both genders, so I tried sticking with stuff I saw a lot of people struggling to work with most. I'm sorry! ... actually I don't have any chubby male characters, now I feel kinda bad.

I think at some point I'll probably retouch these, I'll remember to include that.

The rules of fat don't really change between men and women much like the rules of muscle. Really the trick is knowing where fat will fold, but it can be different depending on the character. Most folds will occur around joints or at least the joints that SPECIFIC person uses most. Like how some people will have fat sort of fold several times in their stomach or not is usually because they bend down a lot i.e. using their stomach muscles more or even if they slouch a lot that tends to happen.

Where fat builds varies. Some people get fatter in their bellies or their legs or sometimes it's even. Just like how some people can have fat faces or not, my husband has gained a bit of weight due to his medicine but none of it has been in his face, it's actually been mostly on his sides. Because of his height you can actually barely tell, which is also very interesting actually since his dad is like that too.

I hope that's helpful!

Ooh, got it. :3 Since a lot of people's style seem to differ depending on gender, it gave me the wrong idea I guess. xD Thanks for the tip!
